Association of Plastic Recyclers

About APR

The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) is a North American industry trade association representing the plastics recycling value chain, including reclaimers, processors, brand owners, material suppliers, and equipment manufacturers. APR’s mission is to improve the quality, efficiency, and economics of plastics recycling and to expand the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin across packaging and product applications.

APR develops technical standards and guidance for recyclability, including the APR Design Guide for Plastics Recyclability, and offers laboratory test protocols to evaluate packaging compatibility with mechanical recycling systems. The organization administers third-party PCR certification to verify post-consumer content, publishes bale specifications, and provides best practices and market resources for a range of resins such as PET, HDPE, PP, and others. APR also convenes industry stakeholders and supports policy and market development efforts aimed at advancing a more circular plastics economy.
