Association of Plastic Recyclers

About APR

The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) is a U.S.-based trade association representing the North American plastics recycling value chain, including reclaimers, brand owners, converters, resin and additives suppliers, and equipment and service providers. APR works to improve the quality and quantity of post-consumer plastic collected and recycled.

APR develops and maintains technical standards and best practices to enable recyclability, most notably the APR Design Guide for Plastics Recyclability. It conducts and recognizes package and material compatibility testing, provides Critical Guidance protocols, and administers third-party Post-Consumer Resin (PCR) Certification to verify recycled content claims. APR also supports market development and supply chain coordination through data, technical resources, and industry programs aimed at increasing demand for recycled plastics and advancing circular economy outcomes.
