About Altilium

Altilium is a UK-based clean technology company focused on the recovery and refining of critical metals from end-of-life lithium‑ion batteries and production scrap. The company targets a circular supply chain for electric vehicles by turning battery waste into low‑carbon battery materials.

Altilium applies hydrometallurgical processing to “black mass,” using steps such as leaching and solvent extraction/electrowinning (SX‑EW) to recover lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese. The recovered metals are refined into battery-grade salts and cathode active materials (CAM) suitable for reintroduction into new cells. Activities span research, pilot, and demonstration-scale operations in the UK and Europe, with collaborations across industry and academia to qualify recycled materials and scale capacity.

By enabling domestic recycling of battery materials, Altilium aims to reduce reliance on primary mining, lower the embedded carbon of battery supply chains, and support regional availability of critical minerals for the energy transition.
