Al-Khaleej Gas Project (AKG), an unincorporated joint venture between QatarEnergy (20%) and ExxonMobil (80%), extracts natural gas from Qatar's North Field. Launched in 2000 with Phase 1 starting production in 2005, the project expanded with Phase 2 (AKG-2) in 2009-2010.
It supplies approximately 2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of sales gas to Qatar's domestic market, primarily for power generation and industry, along with byproducts including condensate, ethane, LPG, and sulfur. Facilities include offshore platforms and onshore processing integrated with Ras Laffan Industrial City operations, managed by QatarEnergy LNG.
The project supports Qatar's economic growth by meeting rising local gas demand and optimizing North Field resources.
