About ADB

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a multilateral development finance institution established in 1966 to foster economic and social development in Asia and the Pacific. Headquartered in Manila, Philippines, it is owned by member countries from within and outside the region and supports governments and private sector participants through a range of development finance and policy initiatives.

ADB provides loans, grants, guarantees, equity investments, and technical assistance for infrastructure and reforms across sectors such as energy, transport, water and wastewater, urban development, and environmental management. Its priorities include climate change mitigation and adaptation, energy transition, resilience, and inclusive growth. These activities intersect with the chemical industry’s value chains via projects that influence energy supply and efficiency, industrial decarbonization, pollution control, waste management and circularity, water quality, and logistics. ADB also produces economic and sector research and applies environmental and social safeguard standards to its operations.
