Abengoa

Abengoa is a Spain-based engineering and technology group known for developing energy and water infrastructure. Founded in 1941 and historically headquartered in Seville, the company has executed engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa, including renewable power plants (notably solar thermal), high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and large-scale desalination and water treatment facilities.

For the chemical and process industries, Abengoa has been active in biofuels—designing, building, and operating bioethanol facilities and related biomass-to-fuels projects—as well as providing industrial water solutions (desalination, wastewater treatment, and reuse) and balance-of-plant services for complex process installations. The company has also pursued projects in green hydrogen, waste-to-energy, and advanced control systems for industrial operations.

Abengoa has undergone multiple insolvency and restructuring processes in recent years, with certain business units and assets transferred or sold. As a result, activities associated with the Abengoa brand may be carried out through different entities depending on the region and project portfolio.
