The American Biogas Council (ABC) is a U.S. nonprofit trade association representing companies and organizations involved in biogas and renewable natural gas (RNG) produced from anaerobic digestion and related technologies. Its membership spans project developers, technology suppliers, utilities, food and agriculture companies, municipalities, and wastewater operators that convert organic residuals—such as food scraps, manure, and biosolids—into energy (biogas/RNG) and nutrient products.
ABC works to expand the biogas market by advocating for supportive federal and state policies, advancing organics recycling and methane reduction goals, and promoting safe, reliable project development. The council provides industry education, technical resources, data and market insights, and best-practice guidance, and it convenes the sector through events such as BIOGAS AMERICAS. ABC also supports workforce development and recognition programs within the biogas community. Its efforts connect the waste, energy, and environmental sectors, helping to integrate renewable gases and nutrient recovery into broader energy and materials value chains.
