Transaction

ABO Energy has sold a hydrogen project comprising an electrolyser, a hydrogen refuelling station and a trailer filling station to Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH. The plant is located in Huenfeld, Hesse.

Facility and output

The site features a 5‑megawatt electrolyser supplying a 350‑bar refuelling station and a trailer filling station and has been producing up to 450 tonnes of hydrogen annually. The electricity required for the electrolyser is generated by wind and solar farms. ABO Kraft & Wärme AG has been responsible for operational management since the opening.

Certification and timeline

After several years of planning and 13 months of construction, ABO Energy inaugurated and commissioned the project in the summer of 2025. In July 2025 the plant received TÜV certification under the CertifHy EU RNFBO voluntary scheme for green hydrogen and has supplied RNFBO‑certified hydrogen for fuel‑cell buses and lorries since August 2025.

Funding

The project was funded with a total of €12 million from the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs under the National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology. Funding was also provided via the German Recovery and Resilience Plan through the European Recovery and Resilience Facilities (ARF) in NextGenerationEU; the funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).
