The first General Assembly of the Critical Chemicals Alliance (CCA) took place on 13 January 2026 at the Chemelot Chemical Park in Geleen, Netherlands. Convened by Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné, it brought together high-level representatives from Member States, regional authorities, industry, companies, associations, investors, academia, and civil society.
The CCA, launched under the European Chemicals Industry Action Plan, aims to strengthen the EU chemical sector by identifying critical chemical productions, mapping key molecules, aligning investments, and addressing challenges such as plant closures, trade disruptions, supply chain dependencies, and the need for decarbonisation and innovation. The General Assembly serves as the main forum for members to set priorities, adopt opinions, and make recommendations. It is held at least twice a year.
