EPC Engineering & Technologies Constructs New Sodium Dimethyldithiocarbamate Production Plant in Volzsky, Russia

At a glance

EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH successfully commissioned a production plant in Russia for the production of sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate. The plant, using the variCARBAMATE technology developed by EPC, produces up to 19,230 tons of sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate per year. The carbamate is used in ore mines for extracting heavy metals. EPC acted as the general contractor for the project, delivering a turnkey plant that meets high environmental standards. The variCARBAMATE technology enables environmentally friendly and cost-effective production of carbamates. The plant achieved the customer's requested production volume and high-quality standards.

The plant planned and constructed by EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH for the production of sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate was successfully commissioned in June 2019 after only two years of planning and construction time. In September 2019, the operating plant was ultimately handed over to the customer JSC Volzhsky Orgsynthese. The production plant is located in Russia and produces up to 19,230 tons of sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate (C5H10NS2Na) per year using the variCARBAMATE technology developed and patented by EPC Engineering & Technologies GmbH. The carbamate is used in ore mines to extract nickel or other heavy metals. The plant already achieves the nominal value requested by the customer in the highest quality.

This project involves the construction of a new plant with a new technology developed by EPC for the continuous production of carbamates. EPC was the general contractor and delivered the turnkey plant - from the first project consultation, laboratory and pilot plant trials, through the entire engineering, project management and commissioning phases. The special feature of the variCARBAMATE technology used is that it enables a particularly environmentally friendly and at the same time very economical and reliable production of carbamates. The plant meets the highest environmental standards, especially in the areas of emission and effluence.
