Celanese Opens Frankfurt, Germany's Largest POM Manufacturing Plant in the World

DALLAS & FRANKFURT, Germany - Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE), a global technology and specialty materials company and a global leader in high performance engineering plastics, today announced the opening of its state-of-the art polyoxymethylene (POM) production facility in Frankfurt Hoechst Industrial Park, Germany.

With a nameplate capacity of 140,000 tons per year, Celanese’s new POM plant will be the world’s largest and strengthens the company’s Ticona engineering polymers business, including its global operations and advanced technical capabilities. The new manufacturing facility is expected to meet the increased global demand for innovative specialty solutions in polymer-based products.

“Today is a milestone for Celanese and Ticona as we inaugurate the world’s most technically advanced POM plant,” said Michael Stubblefield, general manager, Ticona. “This plant significantly strengthens our global Ticona business, expands our production capacity, further enhances our proven ability to develop new and innovative solutions for our customers, and will create the basis for Ticona’s long-term growth.”

Participating in today’s inauguration of the new Celanese facility in Frankfurt Hoechst Industrial Park were Prime Minister of Hesse, Mr. Volker Bouffier; Celanese Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dave Weidman; and district and regional dignitaries.
