Visit of Hungarian Mayor to Under-Construction SEMCORP Factory in Debrecen, Hungary, Expected to Begin Operations in Q1 2023

The mayor of Debrecen, Hungary, visited the SEMCORP factory, the first overseas factory established by SEMCORP for wet lithium-ion battery separator production. The construction of the factory is progressing according to plan, with a total investment of 340 million euros. Recently, Hungarian mayor of Debrecen, Laszlo Papp, paid a visit to the Hungarian SEMCORP factory which is the first overseas factory established by SEMCORP for wet lithium-ion battery separator production. Right now the construction of the factory is in full swing.

“Mayor of Debrecen László Papp announced that the construction of Semcorp's Debrecen plant in the Southern Economic Zone is progressing according to plan. The Chinese company is a world leader in the production of separator foils for electric car batteries.”

Being the second largest city in Hungary, Debrecen is also the location of SEMCORP’s first overseas lithium-ion battery separator factory. With a total investment of 340 million euros, the Hungarian SEMCORP factory is mainly focused on the production and sales of wet lithium-ion battery separator and functional coated diaphragm, with a planned construction of 4 imported automatic separator assembly lines and more than 30 coating lines, which can achieve an annual separator production capacity of 400 million square meters.

It was reported that the local government has provided strong support to the Hungarian SEMCORP factory which will create approximately 440 jobs.

Located in the Southern Industrial Park of Debrecen, the SEMCORP factory is being built between Krones and Vitesco science and technology factories. What is notable is that Deufol and BHS Trans logistics centers have already been built in the Southern Industrial Park, with EcoPro BM and ITK on the way.

At present, the Hungarian SEMCORP factory is already hiring. The Hungarian SEMCORP factory hiring manager said: “Our first round of hiring is for administrative staff and professional technicians and we will be focusing on hiring and training front line workers in second half of the year.”

The global new energy industry is booming and SEMCORP is constantly increasing its presence in relevant fields by proactively expanding its business both domestically and overseas.

As the first overseas factory of SEMCORP, the Hungarian SEMCORP factory is the first step of SEMCORP towards an internationalized enterprise.
