With the start of production on 3 November 2004, the Bitterfeld site and the state of Saxony-Anhalt celebrated a premiere. The commitment of Hi-Bis GmbH is the first Japanese investment in Saxony-Anhalt. With this investment, the country continues to gain international location quality.

The Hi-Bis GmbH is not only an immediate neighbor to Covestro , it is also firmly integrated into everyday life. Services e.g. of personnel, of environmental protection and safety management or the Tordienst belong to the service of the Bayer Bitterfeld GmbH for the Hi-Bis GmbH.

According to ancient Japanese tradition, a Japanese Shinto priest consecrated the site for the laying of the foundation stone and the commissioning of the plant. The ceremony is an expression of the harmony between man and nature. Nature is understood as a source of energy and gratefully accepted as a gift by man.

Due to the high demand for the product, the joint venture partners invested again in the production plant. Since November 2014, the annual capacity has doubled to 10,000 tons.
