Lallemand to acquire BASF's Nutrilife® baking enzymes business

BASF has agreed to sell its Nutrilife baking enzymes portfolio and business to Lallemand Inc's subsidiary, Danstar Ferment AG. The transaction is expected to be completed on September 30, 2022. BASF stated that baking enzymes are not a strategic fit for the company, and Lallemand will be a reliable supplier for customers. Lallemand, a family-owned business based in Canada, focuses on the development and production of yeasts, bacteria, fungi, and enzymes for various sectors including baking, food ingredients, nutrition, and health. The acquisition will expand Lallemand's product portfolio and geographical presence.

Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Zug, Switzerland  – BASF has entered into a binding agreement with Lallemand Inc’s subsidiary, Danstar Ferment AG, to divest the BASF Nutrilife® baking enzymes portfolio and business. Nutrilife® enables food suppliers produce affordable, healthy and appealing food products while contributing to more efficient use of resources. Subject to customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to complete on September 30, 2022.

Lallemand entered recently into the development and production of enzymes. The acquisition of the Nutrilife® baking enzymes portfolio and business will further broaden their product portfolio and geographical footprint.
